You loved your grandparents ever since you were little. Your grandpa was an artist who loved to make sculptures, while your grandma was a painter.
Because both your parents were always at work you got to stay with them a lot. They both influenced you with their love for art, which gave you your love to draw.
Just like them you put everything you had in your drawings, both your heart and soul. It was your grandfather who had taught you that if you put enough of your soul and heart into your art that it would come to life. Which you truly did believe.
However, by the time you entered high school your grandfather had died. So, did your love for art. Without him you felt that you had no reason to draw, the old man was your inspiration in so many ways and drawing only reminded you that he was no longer with you.
Even though he was gone he had left behind his many sculptures he had created over the years. Many which you were given as gifts for your birthdays.
But now those sculptures were collecting dust in the attic of you and your grandmother's house, so you wouldn't be reminded so much of your late grandpa. Since your parents, began to travel longer when you entered middle school, they decided that you would go and live with your grandparents.
One day when you got home after school there was a little yellow box with a red ribbon tied on it. Along with a card that said,
'To (Name)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
From your grandpa'
You looked to your grandma with a face full of confusion. She just replied with a smile before saying.
"This was your grandfather's last birthday gift to you, unfortunately as we both know he was unable to give it to you when he was alive, but I thought that now was a good enough time as ever."
You only stared at the box, not knowing if you should open it or not. Your grandmother just looked at you and said.
"You can open it when you're ready," and with that she walked away.
You only stared at the box for another minute before grabbing it with both hands and walked to your room. You sat on the bed and began to gently pull the ribbon away from the yellow packaging.
Inside the box was a small sculpture. But this one was different from all the others.
This one particular little figure was a what appeared to be a mixture of a cat and a well dressed man. The cat-man was in a white suite along with a white top hat upon his head. In his gloved hand was a little brown cane. The little sculpture also had green eyes that a cat would have, but the eyes looked like a real cat's, just what you would except from none other that your grandfather.
When you went to place the cat on your desk you knocked over the box and saw a piece of paper, fall out of the box. You picked up the paper and read the well written words that were in your grandfather's hand writing.
'Dear (Name),
Happy birthday my dear granddaughter. I hope you enjoy your gift his name is "Baron Humbert von Gikkingen" he will be able to watch over you even when I am gone. Please take good care of him, and also remember to always believe in yourself.'
Love grandpa.'
Tears began to drip down your cheeks onto your lap as you clutched the letter in your hand. You then wondered if you should put this little statue into the attic along with the others. But after a while of staring at the little well dressed cat you noticed something you hadn't felt in years.
You felt the inspiration to draw again. You had missed this feeling and went to grab a piece of paper and a pencil and began to sketch out various drawings of The Baron.
- Time Skip -
The door creaked open and your grandma peeked her head in to see you fast asleep with your head resting against your desk. She then helped you into your bed and covered you with a blanket. Just as she was about to leave she noticed on your desk a paper with many sketches of the cat in the white suite. She gently picked the picture and the little cat statue and placed them on your little nightstand next to your bed and quietly left your room.
A couple of minutes later you opened your eyes to look into the eyes of your little statue friend, who you gave a smile to before saying.
"Thank you, and goodnight Baron..."
You closed your eyes and began to fall back into a deep sleep, but not before feeling a some what soft and small hand caressing your face. Along with a soothing voice.
"Goodnight dear (Name)."
The End.

Waves of excitement kept sweeping through you as you neared the grand party being held in the Phantomhive manner, they hardly ever hosted such events but have attended many, including one I held a month ago. It’s been so many years, and I’m still in love with this little piece. Baron is the perfect dream, and anyone would be lucky to be with him. I know I would. I know it’s been a very long time, and you’ve probably heard multiple messages of the same thing, but I do hope one day… you’ll give this story another chance to be in the spotlight once more. XD
